- Email message--Subject line plus body copy; assumes 200-250 words with links to Website landing pages.
- E-Newsletter--Assumes three-four 100 word articles with links to Website landing pages; some subject material provided by client.
- Banner ad--Assumes headline with 10-25 words.
- Online product catalog--Research product descriptions and buyer benefits; assumes 25-50 words for short description and 100-150 words for long description.
Traditional copywriting
- Brochure--Assumes two-sided, six-panel brochure measuring 8 1/2" x 11" unfolded with 500-600 words and some source material provided by client.
- Sales sheet--Assumes two-sided sheet 8 1/2" x 11" with 150-200 words and source material provided by client.
- Sales letter--Assumes 1-2 page letter (front and back) with approximately 350-400 words per page.
- Direct mail package: Structure package theme with marketing/sales team; assumes copy written for outer envelope (teaser), 1-2 page letter, four-panel brochure and double-sided business reply card (BRC).
- Case study--Research background on customer and set-up phone interview; assumes 600-900 word case study with some source material provided by client and customer contact information. Does not include distributing to media.
- Print ad--Assumes half-page ad with headline, subheads and 40-80 word body copy.
- Postcard --Assumes oversize 8 1/2" x 6" postcard with 40-80 words (front and back).
- Advertising supplement--Assumes two or four pages with approximately 300 words per page with photo captions; usually inserted into a publication (sometimes called an advertorial) then re-printed for distribution.
- Newsletter--Assumes three-four, 200-400 word articles with photo captions; some subject material provided by client. Does not include distribution.
- Press release--Assumes 500-word press release in standard format; most subject material provided by client. Does not include distribution.
- Feature article--Assumes 750-1,200 word article with headline, subheads and photo captions; some subject material provided by client. Does not include distribution.
- Instructional/sales video in CD-ROM or DVD format--Assumes writing 100-150 words for each minute of video.
- White paper--Gather information from subject matter expert; assumes 300 words per page with captions for illustrations and charts.
- Presentations--Assumes 40-80 words for each PowerPoint slide.
